If you’re a first home buyer in Queensland, there’s a big opportunity to save thousands on your upfront costs thanks to the stamp duty concessions available in 2025.

Stamp duty (or “transfer duty” as it’s called in QLD) is a government tax you pay when buying property but if it’s your first home, you might pay nothing at all.

💰 Full Stamp Duty Exemption – Up to $500,000

If you’re buying your first home for $500,000 or less, you’ll pay no stamp duty under the First Home Concession.

That’s a saving of around $8,750, a huge help when you’re getting started.

⚖️ Partial Concessions – $500,001 to $550,000

If your property price falls between $500,001 and $550,000, you’ll receive a sliding discount.

The closer your property value is to $500k, the bigger your concession. Once you reach $550k, the benefit phases out.
