If you’re buying your first home in Tasmania, you could save thousands with the state’s stamp duty concession available in 2025.

Stamp duty (or transfer duty) is one of the biggest upfront costs when purchasing property. But in Tasmania, eligible first home buyers purchasing an established home can access a 50% discount.

💰 50% Stamp Duty Concession – Established Homes Up to $600,000

If you’re a first home buyer purchasing an existing home valued up to $600,000, you’ll receive a 50% discount on your stamp duty.

That’s a saving of up to $11,250 (based on a $600k purchase).

This concession applies to established homes only, not vacant land or new builds.

📅 Extended Until 30 June 2026

The Tasmanian Government has extended the First Home Buyer Duty Concession through to 30 June 2026, giving buyers more time to take advantage of the savings.

👤 Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the First Home Buyer Duty Concession in Tasmania, you must:
✅ Be an individual, not a company or trust
✅ Be 18 years or older
✅ Have never owned property in Australia before
✅ Purchase an existing home (not vacant land or a new build)
✅ Use the home as your main residence within 12 months of settlement
